APFPA  applauds MoA  signed by APFA and Reading FC

ITANAGAR, Oct 01: Terming the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) and English club Reading FC as historic, secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Football Players Association (APFPA) Kipa Ajay has welcomed the move and initiative by the state government which would help the game grow in the state.

“This is the first time that such a move has come about ever since the football scene in the state kicked off at a semi-professional level in the early 90’s. While we always felt that the state can make great strides in field, now with the signing of the MoA we are confident that we can reach great heights”, said Ajay.

The MoA between APFA and Reading FC was inked Monday  by APFA president and Lok Sabha MP Takam Sanjoy and Reading FC advisor Tomo Nomuk at the chief minister’s residence in presence of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, MLAs Techi Kaso and Ralom Borang, and officials of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

Ajay has lauded the move initiated by the APFA president and the state government which had flown in Reading FC officials last year to assess the footballing talent in the state.

The players’ association secretary admitted that while there is still a long way to go before the state becomes a football powerhouse, under the Sanjoy’s presidency great strides have been made.

“Recently at an under-19 national level tournament, the state team performed very well compared to previous outings. Such feats would not have been possible just a few years back.”

Ajay also spoke about the role of the players’ association in helping with the initiative. “The game has changed tremendously in the last few years and the APFPA is trying to ensure that players not only change their playing style but also their attitudes both on and off the field. Discipline is key in today’s game and we will extend our wholehearted support to the government and Reading FC to find the next football star.”

As per the MoA, Reading FC will station two of its senior coaches in the state to train both players and local coaching staff initially for a period of six months. The club will hold camps across the state, scout young hidden talent and groom them at par with global standards. The English club will provide advice and assistance to completely makeover other roles crucial to the development of the game including referees and other officials, managers and scouts, football academies and infrastructure.

The APFPA secretary also informed that a league competition has been tentatively scheduled to be held in November this year.

Misuse of fund alleged

ITANAGAR, Oct 1: The 12 Pakke Kessang Indigenous Youth Organization has sought the intervention of the Chief Minister and the Chief secretary to take action against wrong doers who were allegedly misused the fund for construction of  playground  and rostrum  under Pakke-Kessang in East Kameng district during  2007-2009  when Atum Welly was  Sports Minister.

Armed with RTI papers the organization said that payment against the sanctioned playground and rostrum were reportedly paid to the  respective contractors, but in reality the contractors were not aware of the works/supply order in their names. The organization further said that when sought through RTI the concerned department had failed to produce the papers like  money receipt, utilization certificates and name of the contractors saying that the concern documents with the original signatures were damaged by termites. The organization expressed suspicion that the fund amounting to Rs 17 lakh might  have been “drawn by some powerful persons and the department was trying to hide the facts.”

The Organisation has also appealed the Govt  to direct the  concern department to furnish the document sought instead of applying “avoiding tactics” like documents being damaged by termites, torn, lost or burnt etc.

The organization, meanwhile, requested Health and Family Welfare Minister Atum Welly to provide sufficient medicine/equipments in 12 Pakke Kessang  constituency. It also  demanded posting of sufficient teachers at schools of Pakke Kessang area and maintainance of damaged roads.

While criticizing the  East Kameng LRSO and SK  for alleged injustice done to the genuine land affected people of the area, the Organization urged the East Kameng DC to direct the LRSO and SK to verify and take new measurements of the lands affected by the Trans-Arunachal Highway in Pakke Kessang area.

Confer more power to ADM

Dear Editor,

After the 25th years of our Statehood, Mr Talo Potom ADM cum CEO seems as a real administrator and law abiding officer in our state especially in Capital Complex. He is living inspiration for the young generation of state. The whitewash of tinted paper from all types of vehicles, allotment of many common parking places, stoppage of illegal encroachment of govt quarter and land, drive against vendors & structures in the NH52 etc. A lot of credit for all these goes to MrTaio Potom sir.

All those who think negative about him, please re-think and kindly visit his office & see his restless laudable work. I am sure that you will be surprised & salute him. In this corrupt & money speaking society, he is seems only man who is serving his duty honestly & efficiently. I am sure that if govt remove him from his post, then ultimately the Capita! Complex will become "maha khusi-marji" place as before.

Hence, I on the behalf of all common responsible citizens would like to appeal the govt of AP especially the Chief Minister to confer more administrative powers to Mr Talo Potom sir, so that he can serve people more efficiently. And also appeal to all unions, NGOs, civil societies etc to please support the honest & efficient officer instead of labeling allegations and creating obstacles.

Yours,

Bomyi Doke Lendo,

Capital citizen lacks driving sense

Dear Editor,

I wish to draw the attention of concern authorities towards traffic indiscipline in our capital i.e. Itanagar. I was saved from death once recently due to someone's rash driving near the Ganga market. I would like to share that drivers hardly follow lane discipline, particularly young people, as a result of which accidents are increasing tremendously. Overtaking from the wrong direction, not giving proper signals, over speeding are just some of the ills of our traffic system here.

Unless immediate steps aren't taken to stop such behavior on roads, life in Itanagar will remain a hazard. Adding to this, unless rule breaker isn't punished strictly by the concern authority instead of taking fine "The lane sense is the sane sense" will remain a mere slogan. The big question is why one should suffer due to other's reckless driving.

Yours,

Yumko Maying

Be safe

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to alert my fellow Arunachalees that whoever go to Dibrugargh for any purpose and depends on hotel stay there, must not stay at hotel, RAJA GUEST HOUSE". I along with my wife reached Dibrugarh on 28th sept,2013 at 4.30 am for medical treatment and we got looted just outside of the said hotel gate by four miscreants when chowkidar was about to open the iron gate. Both the manager and chowkidar of the hotel enjoyed watching the whole episode instead of helping their customer by opening the Iron Gate if not atleast shouting for help. All my belongings including costly mobile hand set, purse containing Rs,10,000 (Ten thousand) ATM card, Driving licence and identity card were snatched away by four miscreants but alas! The hotel men were the main culprits as they were only the silence on lookers of the whole episode.

Yours,

Marge Karbak

Human activities responsible for global warming

A major international assessment of climate change adopted by 110 governments provides conclusive new scientific evidence that human activities are causing unprecedented changes in the Earth's climate. Produced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was established by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme in 1988, the report confirms that it is extremely likely that most of the warming since 1950 has been due to human influence. The IPCC's previous assessment, released in 2007, described the evidence for human-caused global warming as "unequivocal," with at least a 9 out of 10 chance of being correct.

The new report further states that greenhouse gas emissions at or above current rates would induce changes in the oceans, ice caps, glaciers, the biosphere, and other components of the climate system. Some of these changes would very likely be unprecedented over decades to thousands of years. Limiting climate change would require substantial and sustained reductions in emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases.

The role of the IPCC is to supply policy-relevant information about climate change to the world's governments. Its Fifth Assessment Report will be considered by negotiators responsible for concluding a new agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change  in 2015.
